Raising Ragnar – 5th Instalment

Ragnar was a bit off his food today, I wormed him yesterday so I think that is probably what is going on. Not much doing today apart from letting him rest and carrying on with day to day learning about life.

Ragnar is back on form today and so I started to introduce him to the clicker. We had a short session and he made a small amount of progress, will continue that soon.  I am going to try to video all of his training sessions so that I have a log of how he progresses.  He is continuing to meet more new people and some people that he has already met.

Today we went to another new place for a walk, and training session. Lead walking is progressing and I have added the whistle recall.

Today he wanted to play keep away with his toy so I did some more two toy work with him. He is looking more like a possessor than a chaser.  We were out in a field with swallows the other day.  He clocked a swallow but was easy to call away from it.  So far so good!

We fitted in another short training session today, and he met one of my clients cocker pups who was 15 weeks old but a similar size to Ragnar. Ragnar was a bit shy to start with but copped well.

Ragnar met our resident hedgehog this morning; he was very interested in him but came away when I called him. He went back later to try to get the hedgehog to play.  The hedgehog wasn’t very interested in that so Ragnar had a bit of a bark to try to convince him to play.  He came away again when I called him and then I moved the hedgehog to outside the garden under a hedge that they use.

I did another coupe of short sessions with the clicker today and the penny dropped today. Ragnar was on purpose going to touch the cone in order to earn the chicken.   I managed to video these sessions and will try to video all of his training from now onwards.

He met several new people today and we went round to another friend’s house for him to play in the garden and meet their dog.

10 weeks old today  🙂
